About Matthew

Like most therapists, I'm a wounded healer: My father died when I was two, and Huntington's disease and alcohol use disorder have run in my family for a few generations. In order to heal from these traumas, I started to practice Tibetan Buddhism in my twenties; I also worked with a private psychotherapist whenever I got hit sideways by life stressors. I learned a lot along the way and a mentor recommended that I was ready to help other people. I worked for seven years in hospital and hospice care, first as an interfaith chaplain and then as a bereavement counselor. I have received advanced training in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy from Phil Wolfson, and am adept at a range of meditation and somatic therapies. My greatest strengths as a therapist are my curiosity and my ability to tune into a client's worldview and native coping mechanisms. I prioritize the client, but I'm also comfortable self-disclosing when it seems useful.
